Pre-Quote Checklist for Custom Creations

Pre-Quote Checklist for Custom Creations

Thinking about incorporating concrete into your next project? The team at Blend Concrete Design are here to help.

Blend Concrete Design are experts in creating aesthetic and functional concrete designs. Before diving into the design and creation of your piece, there are a few important pieces of information the team need in order to get you started on your custom journey.

Send the team an email and be sure to include the items in Blend's pre-quote checklist:

  • Dimensions
  • Site address/access
  • Type of concrete
  • Surface finish
  • Under mounted or drop sink
  • BBQ Model

This blog is a one-stop guide to help you break down and understand each element of Blend Concrete Design's checklist.

Dimensions

The first, and arguably one of the most important, pieces of information the team need are dimensions of the concrete piece you have in mind.

Photos, plans and sketches help Blend to see and understand your vision. Even the smallest and perhaps the ‘ugliest’ sketches can provide valuable information about the space and design you’re looking for.

If you’re looking for a benchtop or table top you will also need to specify its 'thickness'. Blend Concrete Design pours its benchtops at 20mm thick and creates a turndown edge. You can choose how thick you would like this turn down edge to be. Generally turndown edges are created in any thickness up to 100mm. Your piece will appear to be the thickness you choose for your turndown edge. Blend Concrete Design fabricates its benchtops in this way so that its concrete pieces are lighter and easier to transport.

The benchtop in the image above has turndown edge that is 40mm. The table in the image below has a turndown edge of 80mm.

If you’re feeling unsure about what thickness will look best, the team at Blend is more than happy to help with recommendations tailored to your specific project.

Site address/ access

Site address and access to the installation site are vital pieces of information for the team to price delivery and installation. If possible, please send through photos of access to help Blend price the delivery component of your project.

Please consider the following:

  •  What is the street access? Is it off a main road? Dirt road? Uneven ground?
  •  What kind of entrance is it? Single or double doors? Is it a new build?
  •  Are there any stairs?
  •  Are there any other things we need to consider for the installation process?

The more information provided the better as it will factor into the design of your piece and the installation and delivery process and price.

Type of concrete

When thinking about your dream concrete design what type and colour of concrete do you envision? Blend Concrete Design offers a beautiful range of both ‘normal’ GFRC and terrazzo pieces.

GFRC stands for glass fibre  reinforced concrete. GFRC is a combination of concrete and glass fibres. This mix enables Blend Concrete Design to create thinner, lighter pieces without compromising on the strength and quality of the product.

Terrazzo concrete pieces feature a beautiful selection of decorative aggregates, glass and rock. This unique finish is completely customisable.

With countless variations and stylistic possibilities you can achieve the custom look you’re looking for and add a splash of concrete to your space in the most creative way.

Both terrazzo and GFRC concrete pieces are available in a beautiful range of colours which can be customised upon request. To view our beautiful range of colours, or order some samples, click here or contact the Blend Concrete Design team.

Concrete finish

Blend Concrete Design can customise concrete pieces in colour, dimensions, design, as well as surface finish. Its important to determine the concrete finish you would like.

Are you after a gloss finish? Or a matte finish?

Undermount or drop in sink

Let the team know if you would like an undermount sink or drop in sink in your benchtop or vanity.

BBQ area

When looking to create the perfect outdoor concrete entertainment and BBQ area, fit for the whole family, it is important to inform the team at Blend Concrete Design which BBQ model you have chosen.

Let the team know what size, shape and requirements your BBQ has, including recess and/ or ventilation needs. This information helps the team account for all of the details needed to create the perfect design for you. Always remember that the more information you provide the design team, the better.

Hopefully this guide has given you a clearer understanding of some of the things you need to consider when enquiring about a quote.

The Blend Concrete Design team is geared to create an aesthetic and functional design perfectly tailored to your needs. If you have any questions or would like to enquire about your next project, contact the team today. We look forward to hearing from you
